Balaukuntha baraju lies beneath a hill 6 kms away from Bayiriya, a place lying on the west highway of Butwal. This place is important in terms of history, religion and tradition. In the ancient period, ancestors named Balakuntha used to reside here. The place, later on, was named after them. There are diskhas of aayatkar, bargakar and brithakar. On the surface of these diskhas, pieces of pots, bricks, stones, portions of idols can be clearly seen. Shivaliingas, aarghapatta, naali are scattered all over the place. As these items are buried, their actual origin and history are still unclear.
