Maulakali, situated near Mahabharata hill range of Nawalparasi, has a history about its establishment. Mukunda Sen of palpa, during his tenure, had built up palaces according to seasons. So, for his security purpose, an army camp was built up at this border point of Palpa. In ultural way, the symbol of power, goddess Kali’s ‘maula’ was established here. Mukunda sen used to worship it during his stay here. Army used to worship regularly. Later on, an idol of Kali was also established there. People of different castes like chepang, lama, bhote, magar, kumal used to stay near this area, so different kinds of puja or worships were organize here in festivals like dashain, chaite dashain, purnima, ekadashi. Devotees from different places come here in order that their wish gets fulfilled. After unification of Nepal, there were no one to worship and its existence was lost. People visit Devghat, below it for religious purpose. Different temples of pagoda style of Maulakali like Krishna mandir, Siddhibinayak Ganesh mandir, Kirtangriha, atithigriha are present. The tourism can be developed in natural and cultural vviewpoint. Kashinath Paudel of Gaidakot determined the presence of Maulakali and began to worship regularly, which let people know about maulakai. The archaeological researches would let to know more about the history of this place.
